Most people nowadays use a vacuum cleaner to clean their house because this tool is very versatile and can be used by almost anyone without needing any particular knowledge. This appliance has been around for quite some time now and still as popular while many manufacturers keep upgrading their technology or introducing new features to make the vacuum even easier to use or able to perform better in many types of surface. However, just like everything else, not all the unit in the market are as dependable.
A good vacuum will of course make our flooring or any surfaces we used them at becomes cleaner or achieve the level of cleanliness we are wishing to have while still require as less effort as possible from our side. Since a vacuum rely on the suction and brush to take the dust, dirt or debris from the surface, a good vacuum will need to have the combination of both good suction and moving brush in its cleaning head.
Vacuum cleaner is available in several models and types which is why we need to decide what kind of vacuum we want first before going for a hunt. The most traditional vacuum cleaner is an upright type but this kind of vacuum is bulkier in design because all the tools, machine and canister is built in the body and you have to move them together. If you like this type but don’t want to have the weight or bulk, you may want to opt for stick vacuum instead.
Stick vacuum have a similar design and look just like an upright as well as operated in the same manner but just like the name, they are slimmer, smaller and lighter thus, we can operate them with less energy while some stick vacuum also offer additional benefit of being a lifted. This feature will be very useful since we don’t have to purchase another vacuum when cleaning above-floor areas for it can cover them as well.
About Shark HV302 and HV322
When we are looking for a vacuum cleaner, we will faced with the many options available in the market from different brands and models, so it can be confusing sometimes. Among all of those names, Shark is the one you want to check on if you are looking for a good vacuum but still available in an affordable price. The company have many models and even though they are not cheap, with all the features and power you can have, most of their vacuums are fairly priced.
For stick vacuum, they have the Rocket model that consists of several vacuum lines with similar capabilities yet also have some differences such as their Shark HV302 and HV322. Both of these vacuums are indeed from a different series but you can get most of one vacuum features in the other model as well. For starter, what separate them is not on the cleaning features but more into the vacuum support feature to help you operate the unit.
Shark HV302 and HV322 Design
As you can see from the picture above, both of Shark HV302 and Shark HV322 are stick vacuum that are powered through a cord. The overall design is rather similar but thankfully they are not identical, so we can tell them apart instantly because HV302 handle and machine cover is orange with blue as another option while the other is burgundy or lavender. Due to the design, they can’t put a huge dustbin in these vacuums and there is indicator to notify you when to empty them.
But, since the bin is clear, you can see through the inside and decide when to clean them as you prefer. On the hose, the HV322 is a little bit different because this model have a tool clip to attach the additional tool which is not available in HV302. As for the cord length, both models have 30 feet long cord and the material used is still mainly from plastic. Read our previous article on: Hoover Linx vs Shark Rocket here.
Shark HV302 and HV322 Features
In the suction power, Shark HV302 and HV322 are similarly powerful and even though they don’t state any information about the rate, many of their users are already satisfied with how the vacuum is able to deliver a good suction especially when used to clean carpet flooring. The HV322 model main focus is to deal with pet hair or fur but in term of performance, the other model is just effective to clean the mess even when they are embedded in your carpet.
Just like an upright, stick vacuum also have a moving brush in their cleaning head and in Shark HV302 and HV322 their brushroll is very beneficial to help the vacuum to take more dirt or hairs in your carpet flooring by agitating the more stubborn dust and loosen them or help surfacing the dust that present in the carpet deeper layer, so after each vacuum you can get a cleaner carpet without spending much effort. To help those with different flooring in their house, they also have an adjustment.
This adjustment is located on the power button near the handle and used to reduce or increase the speed of the moving brush because not all type of flooring require a moving brush. There are two options; one can make the brush go slower and the other will increase the speed while if you are looking to deactivate the brush, unfortunately both of them are not coming with the feature. However, if you have to avoid the moving brush you can detach the head and add another tool instead to clean the floor.
This is also the best thing and what we love the most on Shark HV302 and HV322. Unlike some fixed stick vacuums out there, they are versatile enough to deal with different surfaces in your house, not just the flooring. You can convert them into either handheld or wand vacuum by detaching the nozzle and wand extension, so you can attach the tools they come with to deal with above-floor cleaning. The lightweight will also support the vacuum to be used in this manner so you can lift them easily.
As for the tools included into the package, there are several items available but both models have some different tools inside. The HV302 will give you Hard Floor Hero, home and car detail kit, dusting brush, crevice tool, and upholstery tool while HV322 will give you Hard Floor Hero, pet multi tool, dusting brush, and multi-angle dusting brush. As it has been mentioned above the HV322 is specialized on pet hair so it already comes with the pet multi tool.
Both models have the hard floor hero attachment and this tool is claimed to help the vacuum to perform better in hard flooring when you detach the powered cleaning head to deal with things like litters and stuck on debris. Another difference is on the dustbin capacity because even though they are still smaller than typical upright or fixed stick vacuum, the HV322 model is coming with a bigger cup than HV302 to contain more dirt and less going back and forth to garbage can.
Another thing you may want to know when looking for a vacuum cleaner is probably the filter because this part is what they need to make sure the smaller particle taken by the vacuum stays inside and both Shark HV302 and HV322 equally use one filter near the dustbin that you should wash once in a month to keep the vacuum runs properly or retain its suction power.
Up until this part, all the cleaning ability of Shark HV302 and HV322 are the same but HV322 have something that is not available in the other model which is the LED light on its cleaning head. This feature is not going to increase your vacuum power or performance but it still very useful when you have to clean small and low places where the light is too dim to properly expose the dirt or dust you want to clean.
Now, let’s compare Shark HV302 with HV322. As you may already know, the prominent difference between them aside from the design is the LED light on HV322 cleaning head which is not available on the other model. Another difference is the HV322 have pet multi-tool and equipped with bigger dustbin than HV302.
